Bursting in magical whimsy this vintage silver Hummingbird brooch by acclaimed silversmith William Spratling can't fail to make you smile! American born William Spratling is regarded as the most influential designer in Mexico
Crafted in a notably high grade of 980 silver the brooch is stamped with marks showing it was made between 1939-1940, so an early piece from his "first design period" Made in the Taxco region of Mexico the brooch is solidly cast (not hollow) in a bold retro design and beautifully modelled with crisp detailing. Heavy for size it has a sturdy pin back with a rollover safety catch.
This gorgeous little silver brooch is steeped in Mexican silversmithing history, it is a great investment piece and highly collectable to boot!

CONDITION: in excellent vintage condition, no dents or dings, a gorgeous deep grey steely patina to the gleaming silver with the pin back in perfect working order
