Circa 1820, this charming antique Georgian 18ct yellow gold turquoise and diamond ring features a forget-me-not motif on the front and it has a little glass locket compartment behind the face that contains a weave of hair. Perhaps originally worn as a mourning ring or as a pledge of love and fidelity, turquoise gemstones stand for protection and the diamond is forever.
Crafted in a very pretty rococo design the ring has a stepped profile and features a tiny old point-cut diamond mounted in a bright cut star setting in the centre framed by a halo of blue turquoise cabochons forming the raised flower head. The stepped shoulders are accented in a trio of turquoise stones at each side and a classic d-shaped gold band finishes this delicate feminine ring that would have perfectly suited the fashionable lightweight floral silk gowns of the romantic Georgian Regency era.
