This superb Victorian 9ct gold cameo ring is a statement of femininity. Beautifully carved it depicts "Hera" Greek goddess of women, marriage and childbirth. She is Queen of the Gods and the Romans knew her as "Juno".
Far from mass produced the ring is handcrafted in the neoclassical style with a deep bezel, elegant split shoulders and a D-shaped band. Providing wonderful finger coverage with a lovely high profile it is a beautiful Victorian statement ring through and through.
Fashionable with well-heeled 18th & 19th century travellers and brought home as souvenirs of their "Grand Tour" the Victorians considered Italian cameo jewellery a statement of culture and refinement and it is still a firm favourite with antique jewellery collectors today.
