This gorgeous antique sterling silver locket dates from the Victorian Aesthetic period, around 1880. It is hand-engraved on the front in a romantic ivy pattern (in Victorian symbolism the clinging ivy speaks of everlasting love & eternity) along with raised 'V' motifs. The border is decorated in silver discs stamped in star motifs.
The locket opens from the side to reveal 2 silver picture frames, black satin liners & clear acetate photo covers. The locket has a generously sized teardrop shaped bale that is nice and puffy with a wide bore opening so you can happily attach a heavy duty chain to match her character (please note the chain shown is not included).
A beautiful solid silver antique locket steeped in romance and sentiment, it's a perfect medium to large size too, ideal for daily wear!
