A handsome antique Victorian sterling silver Maltese cross watch chain fob, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1896.
This beautifully made example is decorated with delicate engraved floral and geometric detailing across the cross arms, centred by a circular cartouche engraved with an ornate intertwined monogram “GWB”. The engraving has a wonderful crispness that gives the piece real visual presence.
Originally worn suspended from a gentleman’s pocket watch chain, this classic late Victorian fob now styles beautifully as a pendant or substantial charm. The sculptural star-shaped form gives it a striking look when worn on a silver chain.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver
MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 1.75" (4.5cm) high including suspension ring and 1.25" (3cm) wide. Top ring measures approx. 10mm diameter and 1.5mm thick.

HALLMARKS: Lion passant for sterling silver, anchor for Birmingham assay office, gothic date letter “W” for 1896 and maker’s mark “W.J.D”.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with light surface wear and patina consistent with age. Chain not included.
