This wonderful all original antique Victorian sterling silver earring and locket brooch jewellery suite comes in its original fitted jewellers case and looks to have been rarely, if ever worn. After all this time it is very rare to find them still together! The matching pieces have pie-crust edges and are embellished in gorgeous Aesthetic era engraving featuring Scottish thistles and roses. Raised semi-circles of square silver wire and rhombus shaped studs add to the delightful decoration.
The brooch has a silver framed convex glass locket compartment in the back to hold a photo, lock of hair or some other special keepsake. Remarkably the compartment has never been used and still has its original satin ribbon and paper liner as well the pristine glass cover. The earrings feature shepherd hook ear wires embellished in silver beads and they have lovely movement when worn. The retailers jewellery case is wooden with a faux tortoiseshell covering and fastens with a push button closure. It is printed 'David Summerfield. Goldsmiths & Jewellers. 22, Northumberland St. Newcastle-On-Tyne' inside the cream satin lid and has a removable black velvet jewellery pad with a cardboard stand at the back.
A collectors dream and an all round exquisite example of Victorian quality and craftsmanship!
