This magnificent Victorian Aesthetic sterling silver bangle bracelet boasts exquisite floribunda engraving to the front, exceptional personalised engraving to the back and it is even encased in it's own antique fitted box, a pièce de résistance in any antique jewellery collection!
The front of the bracelet is engraved in a beautifully ornate flower and butterfly pattern, we even see a charming little swallow swooping through the flowers (he is symbolising love and affection). The top and bottom of the bracelet are decorated in wide bands of applied Fleur-di-Lis decoration in a raised design adding even more appeal to the delightful decoration. Not to be outdone the back of the bracelet is personalized in outstanding calligraphy with a name, date and hometown: "MF Pearce, Sheffield, 1881". The hand-engraving throughout this piece is exceptional, we have seen none finer!
Crafted on the oval the bracelet is impressively wide, it is heavy and solidly constructed (not thin and tinny). It has rolled edges for comfort and a sturdy hinge at one side and a push button clasp at the other. The fitted bracelet box is made of wood and covered in burgundy coloured paper, it has brass fittings and it is printed ""Corke & Son Jewellers, Queen St., Wolverhampton" inside the lid.
A beautiful feminine piece these romantically engraved bracelets were given as loving gifts to brides during the Victorian era and were often personalized with engraved names just as this one is! It is reasonable to assume that the case is original to it too and it is wonderful to still see them together after 150+ years!

MEASUREMENTS: Measures 1-1/2" (4cm) wide. The inner circumference is 7-1/4" (18.5cm), inner diameter 2-1/4" (6cm) hinge to clasp, 1-7/8" (4.5cm) front to back. This type of bracelet is worn close fitted to the wrist.

CONDITION: In very, very good antique condition. As to be expected from a piece of jewelry this age there is a little surface wear, faint scratches and tiny dings but nothing untoward. Our photos are taken in extreme close-up so marks are greatly magnified and not visible to the naked eye. The clasp is in good working order, it closes securely with a firm click and stays tightly closed . The hinge is strong and stable with no signs of any undue wear and tear and no slipping.
