A beautiful Victorian Aesthetic era sterling silver bookchain necklace. The necklace is made up of rows of triple chain links decorated in a double row of round discs pierced in star motifs. Adding to the delightful intricacy the top and bottom of the necklace is embellished in lines of silver beads.
A classic collar length the necklace is designed to lie perfectly flat against the neck and it has a large detachable bolt ring clasp in the centre that can be used to attach lockets and pendants. Wonderfully versatile, you can wear it on it's own too and it can be worn with either side facing - this lady was an essential bit of Victorian kit!
The necklace is in good antique condition with wear and tarnished areas commensurate with age. Please note there are 3 of the star discs missing, a single one towards the front and a pair towards the back. The loss isn't particularly noticeable because of the ornateness of the necklace and we have priced with this flaw in mind, please see the photos. The chain links are clean with plenty of movement, none of the silver beads are missing and the bolt ring is in good working order fastening securely. The locket shown is for illustration purposes and sold separately.
This lovely piece shows the beautiful workmanship and quality befitting a 150 year old treasure and it is still eminently wearable today!
