A beautifully crafted Scottish Luckenbooth brooch in solid sterling silver, hallmarked in 1998. Substantial in size and weight, this striking crowned-heart design is richly decorated with traditional Scottish gemstones and intricate engraving.

At its centre sits a large, glowing oval glass citrine, mounted in a raised crown gallery. The surrounding heart is embellished with natural Scottish hardstones, combining spicy red carnelian with vibrant green malachite. Three graduated natural garnets adorn the crown above, adding a further touch of rich colour.

The reverse is equally well constructed, with a sturdy pin fitting, rollover safety clasp and an ingenious silver safety chain attached to a loop at the hinge.

The Luckenbooth is one of Scotland's most romantic traditional symbols. Named after the small lockable booths that once lined Edinburgh's Royal Mile, where such jewellery was sold, the crowned heart has been treasured for centuries as an emblem of love, loyalty and affection. Traditionally exchanged as a love token, it remains a particularly meaningful symbol of Scottish heritage.

A wonderful piece of vintage Scottish jewellery, equally suited to gentlemen or ladies, and accompanied by the attractive royal blue vintage presentation box shown from the renowned Edinburgh silversmiths Hamilton & Inches. The interior lid bears the Royal Coat of Arms and the inscription By Appointment to HM The Queen, Silversmiths and Clock Specialists.
