An exquisite 15ct gold antique mourning pendant dating to the Edwardian era. Superb quality and highly decorative the Etruscan design pendant features a glass locket panel at the front containing dark blonde braided hair. The glass is beveled helping magnify the hair that belonged to a young boy. Likely a mothers morning pendant the back is engraved "In Memory Of Ed. J. Humphreys, died 29th Aug., 1911, (aged) 8 years.
This pendant is in top notch condition with no flaws and it has a pin back for wear as a brooch. It has been very well cared for and obviously treasured for a very long time. The suspension ring looks to be original to the piece and it is wide bore for wear with a narrow ribbon should you wish. A wonderful example of English mourning jewelry and very poignant. The 15ct gold hallmark was only used between 1837 and 1935 so it adds a little more rarity and desirability to an already very collectible piece.
We have added a new 18" (46cm) gold vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) Belcher chain for wear as a pendant. . Our chains are manufactured in the Italy and are high quality and fully hallmarked.
