This extraordinary and unique antique Victorian solid sterling silver bypass lion bangle (possibly made in India during the British Raj) is finely modelled and shows an exceptional level of workmanship.
Crafted in heavy gauge silver (so it is durable and hard wearing) it is solid silver on the inside with the outside decorated in fretwork (diamond shaped holes pierced into the silver). The terminals at the front of the bangle are decorated in repousse work lions that are superbly detailed down to their curling manes, eyes, ears, noses and wide mouths. You can even see their facial hair!
Bypass style without a hinge one side of the bangle cleverly swivels upwards to open it and it closes with the aid of the little silver peg that inserts into the hole and keeps both sides securely together when worn.

CONDITION: in very, very good antique condition showing just typical signs of age, minor surface wear, light tarnish and tooling marks to the inside.
