An unusual Victorian Scottish stag tooth breloque pendant. A breloque is a trinket, charm or ornament usually attached to a watch chain. The top of the tooth has a silver jump ring and a swivel "Albert" clip to attach it to a pocket watch chain or wear as a unique necklace pendant!
During the mid 19th century these were popular pendants and amulets fuelled by Queen Victoria's habit of wearing her "Scotch" trophy jewellery made from the teeth of deer hunted by Albert in Scotland. While it may seem an odd practice to us today the setting of trophy teeth into jewellery was a tradition in the Prince's native Germany!
