This beautiful Edwardian solid 9ct gold locket is an absolute classic of the era. Its clean and simple elegant lines, mirror finish and decorative double bail is very much in the emerging Art Nouveau style influenced by Japanese designs .
Crafted in pale rose gold and hallmarked for 1906 the locket is a perfect circle and features a bamboo and reed fan motif bail that has a wide bore so it can be worn with a variety of chain styles and thicknesses.
The locket opens for the side to reveal a single photo station along with the original picture ring and plastic cover, surprisingly these hard plastic covers have been used in lockets since Victorian times. It still has a photo of a charming Edwardian lady inside which could be replaced with your own.
The locket is hallmarked in several places, on the front, the back, the picture ring and on the bail which is always a sign of a good quality piece. A lovely antique beauty all around, the perfect size and timeless, as wearable today as the day it was made.
