This exceptional and rare antique Victorian Scottish silver kilt pin is fashioned as a stag's fetlock and mounted with a carved carnelian hoof and a natural amethyst pommel which is an intaglio seal engraved in the initials 'PP', the monogram of the owner.
This kilt pin is a large impressive size and crafted in heavy gauge sterling silver. It is beautifully modelled and incredibly realistic with superb engraved detailing in the silver. The cloven hoof is carved from an opaque carnelian stone that is a rich brick red. The amethyst is a deep glowing purple with the matrix still beautifully crisp, it turns out a lovely well defined impression and can be used to seal letters. A decorative silver chain with a safety pin adds to the incredible decorative appeal of this piece.
To finish the pin back is heavy duty and will gather, pin and secure thick fabrics and close weave tartans with ease.
Traditionally worn to weigh down the front of the kilt this pin is equally at home making a statement on a jacket or scarf so good for the ladies or the gents. An absolutely fantastic piece of authentic antique Scottish dress jewellery, hand crafted, top quality and heirloom worthy!
