This lovely little antique 9ct gold rectangular locket hails from the Victorian Aesthetic era and is beautifully hand-engraved in a different design on each side so you can wear it with either side facing, two charming gold lockets in one!
One side is adorned in beautiful Forget-Me-Nots and the other is decorated in Ivy along with inscribed initials "RS". To the sentimental Victorians the clinging Ivy symbolised everlasting love and loyalty. The Forget-Me-Not speaks for itself. In bygone times these romantically engraved lockets were given to sweethearts and loved ones as a token of love and affectation.
The locket opens to reveal 2 stations for your photographs along with cardboard, paper and purple satin liners. It also has 2 picture frames inside along with a glass cover in one side. A gold 6.5mm loop at the top completes this instantly recognisable Victorian classic that is ready for you to add your favourite gold chain.

CONDITION: in good condition throughout with signs of antique age; surface wear, faint scratches and light tarnish noted under magnification along with tooling marks and gold solder in the interior. The floral engraving is still lovely and crisp and although this locket doesn't shut with a "click", you can rest assured that once closed, it stays securely shut until you open it again. Please note the chain shown is not included.
