A very sweet little antique sterling silver brooch dating to the Victorian Aesthetic era circa 1880. The brooch is crafted as a 'Canterbury' cross which is a beautiful cross shape based on a medieval 9th century Saxon cross brooch discovered in the city of Canterbury, England in 1867.
The front of the brooch is exquisitely hand engraved in a very pretty Aesthetic pattern typical of the era. The brooch is gently pillowed so it is hollow, it is in good condition with expected wear and light tarnish in keeping with age, the engraving is still lovely and crisp and the pin back is in good order. Please see the photos.
A charming and fairly unusual piece of devotional Victorian jewellery and a stylish silver accent accessory good for the gents and the ladies!
