A beautiful antique Victorian guard chain in gold gilt (sterling silver with a heavy gold plating). This is a very long Belcher link chain and heavy gauge with lots of heft and weight, the oval links are solid with straight edges and the necklace terminates in a swivel Albert/dog clip.
Lovely quality and very well made in a particularly attractive pale shade of gold, it's a very tactile piece - add a locket or not, it has interest whether worn long or doubled. During the Georgian and Victorian eras these versatile chains were one of several jewels worn at the same time and were used to attach, and keep close at hand, all manner of things.
PLEASE NOTE: The locket shown is for display only and available for purchase separately.
