Hallmarked in 1972 this fine quality vintage English sterling silver 3-bar gate bracelet comes complete with a love heart padlock clasp and decorative safety chain
The bracelet is elegantly proportioned and not too wide so it is great for layering with other bracelets. The articulated links are facted on the front which adds an extra sparkle and really catches the eye. This bracelet has been professionally cleaned and polished so it's ready to wear or give as a gift.
A gorgeous traditional English silver bracelet steeped in nostalgia and romantic sentiment. "Gate" bracelets are so called because the links resemble the horse paddock gates and fences seen dotted around the British countryside. Bracelets with heart padlocks have been an everlasting favourite since Victorian times, worn by women as a sign of fidelity and faithfulness the padlock was only ever meant to be opened by her husband or lover!

HALLMARKS: stamped on the end rings 'anchor' for Birmingham, 'lion passant' for sterling, date letter 'X' for 1972 and 'JAM' the makers mark for J A Main Ltd., a manufacturing jewellers located in Birmingham's historic jewellery quarter. Also stamped 'SILVER' on the padlock

CONDITION: light wear in keeping with age and the padlock in perfect working order. Overall excellent condition.
