A gorgeous Scottish sterling silver plaid brooch bearing full hallmarks for the year 1966. Traditionally worn at the shoulder to pin the tartan to the jacket, the brooch is crafted as an oval shield and beautifully engraved in a bright-cut pattern. The cut-out centre is decorated in a pair of thistle flowers that are set in sparkling vibrant purple glass amethysts.
The brooch is rendered in fairly heavy gauge sterling silver that is rhodium plated so it resists tarnish. It has a sturdy pin back with a roll-over clasp so it will pin to heavier fabrics with ease.
A fine example of a traditional Scottish dress brooch with plenty of age to it. Good for the gents or the ladies and highly collectible too!
