A very collectable mid-century sterling silver brooch by renowned Scottish silversmith Robert Allison. As an added treat the brooch is stamped in the distinctive Glasgow hallmark; a fish, tree and bell. Glasgow assay office closed permanently in 1964 resulting in their historical hallmark becoming desirable.
A quality piece in heavy gauge silver the brooch is crafted in a Celtic ring design with a beautifully detailed cut-out thistle in the open centre, The national flower of Scotland the thistle's prickly exterior symbolizes the Scottish people's endurance and determination.

HALLMARKS: stamped 'fish, tree, bell' for Glasgow, 'thistle' for Scotland, 'lion passant' for sterling and date letter 'e' for 1953. Also stamped 'RA' makers mark for Robert Allison.
CONDITION: in excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. Note any dark spots are reflections.
