Dangling from rolled gold screw-back tops these classic antique Victorian Scottish banded agate drop earrings make quite the statement. The beautifully carved gemstones are teardrop shaped and dangle from long gold chains. They are a deep dark brown banded in white and pink and aren't identical as you might expect with natural stones. A fab pair of all original Victorian earrings, they sway with every movement!
First patented around 1894 screw-backs offered Victorian women an alternative to hooks. Peoples attitudes change and ear piercing was beginning to be regarded as an uncouth practice. Screw-backs gained in popularity quickly and by the 1930's they had become the new norm!
