A unique antique Victorian watch chain made from horse hair, we usually see these chains made with human hair so this is a first for us!
Featuring long stiffened tubes of beautifully braided deep brown horse hair connected together in double ring links that are made of several strands of looped hair secured together in blanket stitches. Surprisingly robust and hardwearing the woven hair has had a hard coating applied to protect it. The chain has a statement sized decorative bolt ring to attach a pocket watch or other accessory at one end and a T-bar at the other. These fittings are steel which has a beautiful aged patina the colour of gunmetal.
Sadly, this striking 'albertina' pocket watch chain isn't a suitable size to wear as a bracelet but she is rare survivor and an authentic way to connect yourself with Victorian fashion!

CONDITION: very good for it's age! A little minor fraying here and there on the jump ring links but no real flaws noted
