Evoking the colours and textures of the wild and craggy Scottish highland landscape perfectly this antique Victorian silver brooch is set with earthy local hardstones and a glowing orange paste citrine. Known locally in Scotland as a "Cairngorm", the glowing citrine is mounted in a tall crown setting that is pegged in.
Crescent shaped cabochons of carnelian and bloodstone border the crowned centre with the surface of the silver beautifully decorated in ornate wiggle-work engraving and chased detailing, hallmarks of skilled Victorian craftsmanship. To the reverse the brooch benefits from a heavy duty fastener ensuring secure wear.
A beautiful classic Victorian Scottish dress brooch, true antique ones are becoming harder to find, good for the ladies or the gents and highly collectible too!
