This traditional Scottish sterling silver brooch is modelled as a Sgian-Dubh, the ceremonial knife worn tucked into the top of a sock as part of classic Highland dress. The name Sgian-Dubh (pronounced “skin doo”) translates to “black knife” and has long been an iconic symbol of Scottish heritage.
The brooch is finely engraved and beautifully detailed, with a glowing amethyst mounted at the top. Warm, spicy brown agate is skilfully set into the handle and continues along the blade, creating a striking contrast against the silver and giving the piece wonderful depth and character.
A lovely old example of a classic Scottish dress brooch, rich in tradition and symbolism. Highly collectible and perfect for Highland wear, a jewellery collection, or as a distinctive heritage gift.
