Vintage Scottish Sterling Hardstone Silver Sword Lapel Pin

A traditional Scottish sterling silver sword brooch/kilt pin, set with a glowing citrine-coloured paste stone to the thistle finial and inlaid with panels of deep green bloodstone and warm reddish-orange carnelian along the blade. The silver is decorated with engraved detailing throughout, giving the piece a handsome Highland character.

Rather than being a heavy hand-crafted example, this appears to be a lighter pressed silver piece, typical of practical mid-century Scottish souvenir and dress jewellery. That lighter construction gives it an easy wearability while still retaining the classic ceremonial look associated with Highland dress.

The reverse is fitted with a traditional pin and clasp fastening with good clearance behind for securing to thicker fabrics, tartan, or a kilt apron.

CONDITION: In very good vintage condition with light age-related wear. The pin fastens securely. There is a fine surface-reaching hairline to the carnelian visible under magnification, though it remains stable and securely set.
