A striking Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring, c.1920, with a beautifully bold oval face and exceptional finger presence. Centred with a richly saturated royal blue sapphire in an open target setting and framed by a glittering diamond halo, this is Deco at its most elegant and wearable.
Crafted in 18ct yellow gold with a platinum-topped face framed in fine milgrain detailing, this classic Art Deco cluster ring features a natural sapphire measuring approximately 6.85mm (approx. 0.85ct). The stone displays a vivid, velvety royal blue with excellent depth and life, securely set within a finely worked crimped bezel at the centre of an open “target” mount, allowing light to circulate freely around the stone and enhance its brilliance.
Encircling the sapphire is a halo of 22 natural diamonds, each individually micro-claw set into platinum, creating a continuous, light-catching sparkle (approx. 0.20ct total). The diamonds face up bright white and lively; any warmer tones visible in photographs are reflections from the yellow gold.
The head is elevated within an openwork basket setting, lending the ring a refined, sculptural profile while allowing additional light to pass through the stones. Raised shoulders lead cleanly into a gently squared band, giving the piece both structure and balance on the hand.
With a generous head measuring 17mm by 11mm, the ring offers impressive finger coverage while maintaining a refined and highly wearable silhouette. It sits comfortably low, yet carries the visual impact expected of fine Deco cluster rings.
Pieces of this scale, colour, and condition are increasingly difficult to source.
A sophisticated and enduring antique, equally suited to daily wear or as an stunning alternative engagement ring.
