A bold and striking antique 1920's Art Deco era Malachite gemstone bead necklace that is statement length and absolutely divine! Did you know Malachite is said to be the essence of joy?
A quality necklace at a sassy 25" (62.5cm) in length the 43 spherical beads gently graduate in size, they have a beautiful glossy lustre and no two are identical in either shape, size or markings as you might expect in beads that are carved by hand. They are separated by sets of 3 bright green glass spacer beads. The beads are strung on black silk and the necklace fastens with a sturdy rolled gold/gold filled bolt ring. The clasp is antique and has a lip that slides across to open it rather than the more typical nub, it is a safe and secure type of fastener.
The beads graduate from 15mm diameter for the large central bead to 9mm for the small end ones. They are cold to the touch and have been tested and verified using a Presidium Gem Tester. The clasp measures 8.75mm in diameter. This necklace is heavy weighing a full 100 grams.
This antique Malachite necklace is in very good condition with expected minor wear but nothing untoward. A couple of the stones have tiny chips and crackles in them however, this isn't noticeable while wearing and should be expected in natural earth mined soft stones that are antique. The silk stringing shows no signs of weakness or deterioration.
