Circa 1890 this beautiful antique sterling silver locket hails from the Victorian Aesthetic era and has the benefit of being beautifully embossed and engraved in different botanical floral designs on both sides. One side is also engraved in a charming little monogram in ornate script. You can wear either side facing to vary the look, two lockets in one!
A large impressive size the locket has a nicely pillowed puffy profile and opens from the side to reveal a black cardboard liner, plastic photo ring and silver frame. If you wanted to put a 2nd photo in the other side of the locket you could just cut it slightly larger and tuck it under the rim to hold it in place.
The top of the locket has a large pillowed teardrop bale with a large opening which will happily accommodate a wide variety of different weights and styles of chain, it is perfect to attach to a Victorian book chain or you can even wear it with a ribbon.
The locket is in good antique condition. There are no dents or dings to the outside and the engraving still crisp. Note any dark spots are reflections. As is typical in most lockets of the era the silver is a fairly thin so the embossing shows through to the inside in places. The hinge is in good order and the locket closes tightly with a satisfying click. Please note the chain is not included.
