Superbly made and wonderfully substantial, it has a reassuring weight in the hand at 11 grams and—something we very rarely encounter—is crafted in a fully solid, heavy gauge measuring approximately 5mm in depth. This is not a lightly made piece, but one with real presence and quality that you can both see and feel.
Every surface is richly engraved with feminine floral detailing, still crisp and full of life, framing a glowing oval cabochon almandine garnet. The stone is a deep, sumptuous plum-red with a darker wine-toned core, catching the light with that soft, glassy glow so characteristic of antique garnets.
The form itself is particularly elegant, a softly shaped shield that feels both decorative and refined. The hasp is generously sized and closes securely with a satisfying click, it has a gold safety chain in place, ready to be worn with confidence as a pendant or used as a working clasp on a chunky gold chain necklace or bracelet.
A detail we especially love: even the hinge rivet heads have been carefully finished with delicate sunburst engraving, a small but telling indication of the level of care and craftsmanship that has gone into every element of the piece.
