Circa 1860 an exquisite pair of antique Victorian rare wild pearl drop silver earrings that are offered in their original maroon colour leather fitted case. The large river baroque pearls are not exactly identical as you might expect in pearls that occur in nature. They are slightly different in shape, one has a tear-drop form with the other being more rounded. The sterling silver settings have been custom made to fit each pearl individually. Both pearls are a beautiful matching lustrous white colour with a high iridescence and one pearl has a smoother surface than the other. The pearls are mounted in closed back settings and held securely in 4 large claws. For pierced ears, the top of the earrings feature bead accented hooks with safety clasps to lock them in place.
The fitted case is just gorgeous. It is made of wood in a shield shape with a high dome top and it opens and closes with a push button catch. The exterior is covered in maroon leather (a brownish-crimson colour) and the inside is lined in cream silk. The earrings slot into a raised wooden plinth covered in luxurious purple velvet.
