A beautiful quality vintage 1980s 9ct yellow gold, metal-cored bangle by the respected Hatton Garden jewellers Fred Manshaw of London. The company was founded by Manfred Durst, one of the children rescued from Nazi persecution through Britain's Kindertransport programme. After arriving in Britain, he established a successful jewellery manufacturing business operating from 1946 until 1986.
Gold metal-cored jewellery is constructed using a substantial sleeve of solid 9ct gold permanently bonded around a strong base metal core. The generous 20-micron gold layer is significantly thicker than conventional gold plating, resulting in jewellery with the luxurious appearance, feel and durability of solid gold while offering enhanced strength for everyday wear.
Designed in a flattering oval profile, the bangle is beautifully diamond cut with a faceted finish that catches the light from every angle, creating a subtle sparkle with every movement. It is hinged at the side, fastens securely with a discreet push-button clasp and retains its original gold safety chain. Weighing an impressive 19.5 grams, it has a reassuringly substantial feel on the wrist.
It remains in excellent vintage condition with no dents or dings and virtually no visible wear to the thick gold layer. Beautifully made and exceptionally comfortable to wear, it looks, feels and wears with all the confidence of a solid 9ct gold bangle
