The beautifully rendered longship — one of Ritchie’s most celebrated and enduring designs — is particularly appealing here with its furled (folded) sail, a less commonly seen variation compared to the typical full-sail examples. This subtle detail adds depth, character, and a sense of quiet strength to the piece.
Ritchie famously drew inspiration from the ancient Norse burial slabs on the Isle of Iona, incorporating their early medieval symbolism into his distinctive Celtic revival jewellery. The result is a design rich in heritage, craftsmanship, and historical resonance.
