A beautiful vintage gold chunky curb chain bracelet with a heart padlock clasp complete with a key hole.
The bracelet and padlock are hallmarked '9ct Gold' and 'Metal Core' which indicates that there is a thick sleeve of solid 9ct gold mechanically bonded over a hard metal core ( so it's similar to rolled gold/gold filled). The metal core helps give strength and durability to what would otherwise be a soft gold hollow link bracelet.
In a style known as an "engagement" bracelet during the Victorian era the bracelet is lovely quality and crafted in buttery yellow gold with large links, it fastens at the front with a large heart padlock and it has a decorative safety chain. The clasp has a nub which pushes in to open it and it snaps back in place to close it securely.
In the old days these romantic bracelets were often sold with a key attached to the padlock and the advertising proclaimed "the engagement bracelet is locked on the arm by the happy gentleman, who keeps the key, and it is never taken off"

CONDITION: in very, very good vintage condition with no wearing through the gold sleeve, the padlock has tiny surface dings as you would expect given age and wear, please see photos. The clasp is in perfect working order and closes securely.
