This beautiful antique gold locket is stamped with historical hallmarks for Chester 1907. Chester assay office closed permanently in 1962 so Chester gold is particularly sought after and collectible.

Hailing from the Edwardian era the locket is an unusual rectangular shape and it has a different engraved pattern on each side. One side is decorated in ferns and pansies -in the language of flowers the pansy means 'think of me' - along with a shield shaped cartouche for an engraved monogram. The other side is engraved in an equally pretty floral pattern.

The locket opens from the side to reveal two stations for photos along with a silk liner, the original pictures rings and hard plastic photo covers. It has a fairly large sized gold jump ring that will accommodate most styles of necklace chain, the ring is hallmarked too.

The locket is in lovely condition with light surface wear as expected in an antique piece this age but nothing untoward, the plastic photo covers are a little yellowed with age and the hinge is in good order with the locket closing properly with a snap.

We have added a complimentary gold vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) 18" (46cm) chain. Our chains are high quality, they are made in Italy and fully hallmarked

MATERIALS: 9ct gold (locket)

MEASUREMENTS: 1" (2.5cm) high and wide

DATE: dated 1907, Edwardian

WEIGHT: 3.8 grams (locket only)

HALLMARKS: stamped '9-375' inside the locket front (for 9ct gold), stamped '9-375', '3 wheatsheaves in a shield' for Chester, date letter 'G' for 1907, and makers mark 'S&O' on the locket back. Stamped '9-375' on jump ring
