Circa 1900 this beautiful antique 9ct gold locket hails from the Victorian to Edwardian era and is in an unusual rhombus shape. It opens from the side to revel 2 stations for photos along with the original square picture frames and plastic covers - a great shape for photos!
Made out of rich warm yellow gold it is decorated on both sides in an identical pattern with ornate flourishes and flowers and has vacant shield shaped cartouches that you could chose to have engraved with initials for a personal touch. The locket has a lovely gently pillowed profile and little tab on the side to lock it securely closed. It is unmarked and we have tested and verified it as 9ct Back and Front. 9ct Gold Back and Front lockets were typical of English gold lockets of this period. They are made with a solid gold front and back (so they could be engraved) but the inner rims are made from a stronger gold-plated metal to withstand plenty of use, essentially "B&F" lockets are 95% gold.
Pretty and feminine this locket is a perfect medium size for daily wear and it is finished in a generous sized oval jump ring at the top so you can wear it on a variety of chains but we are including a new Italian gold vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) so this piece is ready to wear or give as a gift.

CONDITION: in very good condition with minor surface wear and light tarnish as expected in an gold locket this age but nothing untoward, the hinge is in good order with the locket closing properly with a solid click.
