A beautiful all original antique red glass pocket shrine made in Czechoslovakia which opens to reveal a miniature glass bead rosary and a statue of Jesus depicted with his sacred heart.
Circa 1920-1930 the shrine is glass with a double compartment inside. The front is fashioned as a double gothic style window (perhaps the Vatican) in chrome plated steel with black enamel which provides a wonderful contrast against the silver chrome and red glass. The window pane at the front is a hard plastic in a deeper red shade.
The top is hinged and the front flips open to reveal the devotional objects inside. It is stamped 'made in Czechoslovakia' on the bottom tab and it measures 1-1/2 high (4cm) by 1-3/8" (3.5cm) and 8.7mm deep. It is in very good antique condition with the silver metal still shiny and minimal loss the the black enamel. There is a chip to the red glass at the edge at the bottom, please see photos.
A wonderful devotional and spiritual object with lots of age to it and wonderful to find it still complete after all these years, pre-war Czech glass in itself is very collectable too!
