This beautiful antique rose gold locket is stamped with hallmarks for Chester 1913. Chester assay office closed permanently in 1962 resulting in these historical hallmarks becoming particularly sought after.
Hailing from the Edwardian era the locket is perfectly round and generously sized. It is engraved on both sides in an Acanthus wreath decoration framed by a lovely beaded border and it is engraved in the monogram of the original owner "LL" on the front. It opens at the top to reveal a charming photo of a little Victorian girl in the front along with a picture ring and plastic cover. The top is finished in a 5mm gold jump ring that is safely soldered closed.
The locket can be purchased with the new 9ct yellow gold 18"/ 45cm fine curb chain as pictured or you can purchase the the locket alone if you prefer. The chain is stamped '375' for 9ct gold.
In very good condition showing minor surface wear and a couple of tiny dings on the back as you might expect in an antique locket that has been treasured and worn. Note any dark spots are reflections. The hinge is in good order with the locket closing properly with a snap.
