This marvelous antique huge silver locket hides a secret, it is actually a chatelaine compact with a mirror inside.

Hailing from the Edwardian era and crafted in heavy silver plated white metal the locket opens with a scissor action to reveal the mirror inside. It is uncommon to find these still with the original mirror which sits inside anchored in place with a heavy duty ring. The ring flips out so you could replace the mirror with a large photo if you wish.

The exterior is decorated with a gold pillowed fleur-de-lis motif on one side and the other is ornately engraved with the original owners monogram. It slides open from the side and there is a little button on the bottom that locks it into place once closed.

Lots of versatility with this piece, it can be worn with either side facing to vary the look. A wide gauge heavy duty bale means you can wear it on any weight of chain, it is perfect for attaching to antique long guard chains that have dog clip or bolt rings and this is the way it would have originally been worn.

Good quality with a heavy weight it is perfect for layering with your neck mess or for wearing as a distinctive signature piece. Please note the guard chain in the photo is not included and available for purchase separately.

MATERIALS: silver plated white metal

MEASUREMENTS: The locket measures 3-1/4" (8.5cm) high measured with the bale, 2" (5cm) wide and 11mm deep.

WEIGHT: 55 grams

MARKS: None

DATE: circa, 1905, Edwardian

CONDITION: In very, very good antique condition with the scissor action working perfectly and the locket staying closed. As expected with an antique piece there are fine surface scratches to the exterior but the silver plating is intact with no wearing away. The mirror inside has a small area of loss to the silvering at the back.
