A very pretty antique silver St Thomas necklace pendant by Frances Baker & Son England. The company built a reputation for finely engraved instrument dials and reticles and in the late 19th century added gold and silver jewellery, notably devotional articles such as wearable crucifixes. to their line.

Dating to the Victorian aesthetic era the cross is hollow and engraved in an attractive acanthus leaf pattern with cross hatching and shadow work in the recesses giving lots of dimension.

This is a hollow cross so lightweight and we have added a new 18" (46cm) sterling silver chain for immediate wear. Our necklace chains are made in Italy, they are high quality and fully hallmarked.

MATERIALS: Sterling silver throughout.

HALLMARKS: Coss, 'STG' for sterling silver, stamped with makers mark 'FB&S' for Frances Baker and Son. Chain, '925'

MEASUREMENTS: Cross 1-1/2"and 1" across (approx. 38x25mm) Chain 18" (46cm).

WEIGHT: 4.2 grams with chain, 1.34 grams without.

DATE: Victorian circa 1890

CONDITION: Excellent condition, dark areas are camera shadows, our close up photographs are taken with a magnified macro lens to show you every tiny detail, scratches and blemishes that may appear are not visible in real life.
