This delicate and dainty solid 15ct gold antique locket is beautifully engraved in a fern pattern with raised and recessed station on the front that holds a gold beaded Gothic cross that is pegged in so its very dimensional.
The back is decorated in a forget me not and foliage pattern with a blank shield cartouche for a monogram. It opens from the side to reveal 2 photo stations and the 2 original picture rings. One of the picture rings has a rim to it and this goes on the deeper side with the cross.
It has a closed ring bale on the top that is a fairly large size so will accommodate most fine to medium weight chains with ease.
The locket isn't hallmarked which is fairly typical with lockets that are so heavily engraved. We have acid tested it to 14-15ct gold. The picture rings are likely a gold plated harder metal to give it added strength.
It is in very good antique condition with signs of age and some surface wear as expected. There is a slight depression on the shield at the back where fingers have opened and closed the locket countless times to look inside, please refer to photos. The locket closes tightly and securely. Please note the gold chain is not included.
