This beautiful quality Victorian 9ct gold cased Mizpah ring is steeped in sentiment and is in fantastic condition. Crafted in a wide flat band each gleaming letter is raised against a satin background and sits inside a decorative scroll motif. Despite age the lettering is still bold and dimensional with no softening or wearing away of the all important word 'Mizpah'!
For a larger finger size this fabulous antique ring is in bright buttery yellow gold, it is thick and robust enough for daily wear. Perfect as a wedding, promise or love token ring and a great size for the gents pinky finger. Charmingly translated as "the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from the other" Mizpah was a very popular sentiment during Victorian times.
In case you were wondering gold casing is an antique jewellery technique in which a thick sleeve of solid gold is mechanically bonded to a stronger base metal. This process allowed for heavy embossing also engraving and it resulted in durable pieces that have withstood the test of time, as we see in this ring!
