A lovely pair of antique Victorian era 9ct gold dormeuse earrings for pierced ears. Charmingly old fashioned these dainty earrings are set with delightfully puffed repousse flowers, we think they are petunias or roses. These earrings have gold continental ear wires that have hinges so they lock closed for a safe and secure fit.
A "dormeuse" type of earring these demure little darlings have a very short drop and fit closely to the earlobe. They are the Victorian version of sleeper earrings designed to be worn overnight to keep the pierced hole awaiting the return of bolder earring styles. As is typical dormeuse earrings can be tricky to put on. The hooks go through the back side of the ear piercing and fasten at the front.
