This gorgeous antique sterling silver large locket dates from around 1900 so hails from the Victorian/Edwardian period. It has the benefit of being beautifully engraved in distinctively different designs on the front and back so you can wear either side facing for a completely different look.
Currently there is a period photo of a gent in formal dress along with a silver frame and hard plastic cover. The photo can be left in or removed and replaced with your own. If you wanted to put a 2nd photo in the other side of the locket just cut it slightly larger and tuck it under the rim to hold it in place.
Exquisitely detailed and nice and deep the locket is engraved on one side in a rose, forget-me-nots and fern flourishes. A vacant shield cartouche nestling at the bottom means that you could choose to have it engraved for a personal touch. The reverse side of the locket is engraved in an elegant Arabesque design with wonderful symmetrical spirals and a floral centre.
The top of the locket has a large pillowed teardrop bale with a wide bore opening so you can happily attach any style of favourite chains and wear it with a ribbon. This beautiful locket remains in very, very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear and it closes tightly and securely with a solid click.
