A charming and very feminine antique rolled gold signet ring. The gold is a beautiful rich warm yellow, a shade characteristic of antique rings. In common with other signet rings of the Victorian period the ring is elegantly proportioned with a flat profile so it sits very close to the finger. It's a comfortable design to wear everyday and is great for stacking with other rings. The ring has an adorable little octagonal face that is engraved with the original owners initials in beautiful ornate script. Reeded columns decorate the shoulders and lead to a classic d-shaped band at the back.
First patented in England in 1814 rolled gold (gold filled) jewellery was made by mechanically bonding a sleeve of solid gold over a base metal. Particularly popular for pieces made during the Victorian era the outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight so it is a high quality finish that will retain its golden lustre.
Sometimes Victorian rings are hard to find in this average finger size (UK size N-1/2, USA size 7) so this one is a real treat. It will also arrive in the adorable antique style ring box shown in the photos, great to give as a special gift or the perfect little treat for yourself!
