A superb large size antique sterling silver kilt pin set with Scottish citrines and banded agate. This Victorian period grand statement brooch also has a silver ring at the top along with a decorative silver safety chain that can be removed if you wanted to wear it as a pendant.
An exceptional piece it is heavy and almost 4" long. Beautifully modelled in a tiered design with acanthus leaf engraving, it is set along the handle and blade in Montrose blue lace agates banded in dramatic lines. The top and middle of the sword are mounted in 3 pale golden yellow citrines that are known as "Cairngorms" in Scotland after the mountain range they are found in. The piece is finished in a heavy duty pin back that will secure pleated or gathered tartans and thick fabrics with ease.
Traditionally worn to weigh down the front of the kilt this amazing Victorian brooch will grab attention pinned on a jacket or scarf. A stunning piece of authentic antique Scottish dress jewellery, hand crafted, top quality and heirloom worthy!
