A beautiful pair of classic antique Victorian mourning earrings made of Vulcanite. Marquise in shape they are decorated in watch chain style links with bead accents and they have their original sterling silver shepherd hooks. They are lightweight, have lovely movement and are comfortable to wear.

Vulcanite is an early hard black plastic that was used extensively in the mourning jewellery that was so fashionable during the Victorian era. It was significantly cheaper to produce than labour intensive Whitby jet jewellery and it was its biggest rival. Manufacturers of Vulcanite pieces copied Whitby jet designs relentlessly!
