A heavy duty quality piece displaying fine early craftsmanship, the finial features an escutcheon-shaped heraldic shield exquisitely hand-engraved with a crisp geometric design. The reverse reveals a sturdy pin stem with double rings, securely attaching it to the shield and providing room behind it for heavy fabrics — a robust construction method characteristic of earlier stick pins that predate the mass-produced examples of the mid-Victorian era.
A fabulous accent accessory suitable for both gentlemen and ladies, these pins were traditionally worn on hats, cloaks, lapels, cravats and equestrian stocks.
