This gloriously sophisticated statement brooch was made by the Dorson jewellery company New York in the 1940s and it is iconic of the striking retro jewellery designs of the late Deco era. Crafted in sterling silver the brooch is big and bold and beautifully modelled in a fluid elegant flower design set with sapphire blue crystal rhinestones.
Super quality it is in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of any real wear, just light surface scratches under magnification, and the pin back in perfect order. It is stamped twice on the back 'Dorel Sterling', Dorel was a range manufactured by the American company Dorsons in 1948 so it is only a couple of decades away from being a true antique. The brooch measures 3-1/2" (9cm) tall and 2-1/2" (6cm) wide and weighs 20 grams.
