From the golden age of costume jewelry comes this striking 1940s unsigned Mazer diamante crystal face brooch and matching clip earrings.
The brooch is known as "Asian Princess" by collectors and is documented in the book American Costume Jewelry, Art and Industry by Carla and Roberto Brunialti where it has been attributed to Mazer or Reinad.
The brooch is a large size and features pave set round clear crystals covering the face with prong set clear baguette and pear cut crystals forming the headdress. The top of the headdress is set is accented with 4 princess cut ruby red crystals. The earrings which are signed Mazer are set with clear crystals in a paisley design and they have clip backs.
The brooch measures 2-1/4" (5.7cm) high and wide with the earrings 1"x5/8" (2.5x1.5cm). Weight 40 grams.
Both the earrings are brooch are in good vintage condition given 80 year old age. There is some age related yellowing/clouding to some of the stones but we can't see any that are missing. The brooch pin back is good working order as are the earring clip backs and the silver rhodium plating is still bright and shiny.
