A most unusual antique 15ct gold Victorian trilogy ring set with 3 chrysoprase gemstones (a variety of chalcedony).
This ring is crafted in thick antique rose gold with the stones cabochon cut into ovals and claw set into a unique scalloped setting with elegant D-shaped shoulders. The unique claw setting style is almost "free form" showcasing the waxy deep green stones to perfection.
Used for jewellery and seals since Roman times, all varieties of this ancient hardstone were popular in Victorian jewellery and it was used extensively in Scottish jewelry in particular. Bloodstone, banded agate and carnelian are all forms of chalcedony, a stone long believed to attract new love, abundance and prosperity.

MATERIALS: 15-carat rose gold
GEMSTONES: Presidium tested, 3 oval green chrysoprase gemstones, centre stone measures approx 7.25x4.25mm with the 2 flanking stones slightly smaller.
MEASUREMENTS: the face of the ring measures 16.5mm wide and 7.5mm top to bottom. Shoulders measure 3.5mm sloping to a band width of 2.5mm at the back
RING SIZE: US 6-1/2 /UK M-1/2/EU 52-3/4, sizing available for an additional fee
MARKS: none, acid tested and verified as 15ct gold
WEIGHT: 2.8 grams
DATE: c1900, Victorian/Edwardian
CONDITION: excellent antique condition with expected minor surface wear and signs of age, there is no wearing away of the gold band and the stones are free of damage
